Food Bank

Several HMS Mfg. Co. employees recently volunteered at Gleaners Community Food Bank. Gleaners, headquartered in Detroit, has been providing nourishing food and nutritional education to fight hunger throughout southeastern Michigan for the past 40 years. In one year, Gleaners collects 34.5 million pounds of food and distributes 79,000 meals each day.

The HMS volunteers linked up with fellow volunteers from General Motors for the afternoon and were split into two groups. One group sorted through cans of donated food and checked their expiration dates, while the other group packed food bags for kids. In 4 hours, they bagged enough food to feed 6,800 people.
