On June 1st, 2016 the Hard Rock Café in Detroit, Michigan hosted the Win Local, Rock Global - Battle of the Bands. Over 7,000 bands state wide applied for this year’s competition, with only 4 bands being selected to compete. Mental Health Day, a 4-man Indie-Rock band, was one of the 4 bands chosen.
Sean Nasrey is a Purchasing & Production Specialist with HMS Mfg, co. and drummer in Mental Health Day. Sean explained it was a bit nerve wrecking participating in Hard Rock Cafe's Battle of the Bands with such a grand prize at stake. “I was happy just knowing we were chosen to participate” noted Nasrey. “It was a great experience getting to play with some extremely talented musicians.”
Mental Health Day took second place in the Battle of the Bands. Though the group didn’t win the ultimate grand prize, they were proud of their accomplishments and the added recognition Battle of the Bands provided.
With the competition being over, Sean is paying more attention to the other 7 bands he is a member of. These groups range from light rock, boogie & even a popular children’s band known as Mr. Bob’s Rubber Band.
